Residential Siding Installation Process — Black Canyon Exteriors
Here's exactly what happens from the time you call us to the day we leave your driveway clean.
Residential Siding Projects
Step 1: Free On-Site Estimate (Day 1)
We schedule an on-site visit within 48 hours. We measure all wall surfaces, inspect the existing siding condition, probe any soft spots, and look at trim, penetrations, and drainage details. We discuss your material preference, color goals, and HOA requirements if applicable. You receive a written, itemized quote within 24 hours of the visit.
Step 2: Material Order and Scheduling (Days 2–14)
Once you approve the quote and we collect a deposit, we place the material order. Vinyl typically arrives in 5–7 business days. Fiber cement, particularly in specialty colors, can take 2–3 weeks. We schedule your installation start date when we confirm the material delivery window.
Step 3: Installation (Days 1–8 on Site)
Day one we remove the old siding and inspect the sheathing. If we find rot or damage, we call you before proceeding. Next we install housewrap and flashing at all penetrations. Then siding panels go up, followed by trim, corner boards, and window surrounds. A typical single-story home runs 3–5 days; a two-story home with complex gable details runs 6–8 days.
Step 4: Final Walk-Around and Cleanup
We do a final inspection with you present. We check every panel, every trim piece, every caulk joint. We want you to find anything we missed before we submit the final invoice. All debris is hauled from your property the same day we finish. We stay available for 12 months for any adjustments, touch-ups, or warranty claims.
Common Questions
- Do I need to be home during installation?
- Not every day — we just need someone to walk the job with us on day one and on the final walk-around day. Access to electrical outlets for our tools is helpful but not required if you have an exterior outlet.
- What permits do you pull?
- Most Utah municipalities require a building permit for a full re-side. We pull and manage permits in all cities we work in. The cost is included in your quote.
- What happens if it rains during installation?
- We work in light rain on siding installation because the housewrap keeps the sheathing protected. We pause for lightning or heavy rain that would drive water into open wall cavities. Your project manager will keep you updated if weather causes a schedule shift.
