Cookie Policy content
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit. They allow the site to remember information about your visit — such as whether you are logged in, your session identifier, or how you navigated between pages — during or across visits.
Cookies fall into two broad categories:
- First-party cookies: Set by blackcanyonexterior.com itself. These are necessary for the Site to function (session management, security) or used directly by us for analytics.
- Third-party cookies: Set by domains other than blackcanyonexterior.com, typically embedded analytics or advertising scripts. We use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies from google-analytics.com.
Cookies also differ by lifespan:
- Session cookies: Exist only while your browser is open. They are deleted automatically when you close your browser tab or window.
- Persistent cookies: Remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. Duration varies by cookie.
Cookies we use
The following table lists every cookie set on this Site as of April 2026. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID |
Maintains your session on the Site. Used to store your CSRF security token, form submission state, and — in the admin area only — authentication state. Required for the Site to function correctly. | Session (deleted when browser closes) | First-party, functional |
_ga |
Google Analytics 4 — used to distinguish unique visitors across sessions. Contains a randomly generated identifier. Does not contain personally identifiable information. | Up to 2 years | Third-party, analytics (Google) |
_ga_* |
Google Analytics 4 — used to persist session state between page views within the same GA4 property. The suffix varies by GA4 Measurement ID. | Up to 2 years | Third-party, analytics (Google) |
_gid |
Google Analytics 4 — used to distinguish users within a single 24-hour window. Resets daily. | 24 hours | Third-party, analytics (Google) |
We do not use advertising cookies, remarketing pixels, social media tracking cookies, or any cookies designed to build a cross-site behavioral profile.
How we use cookies
We use cookies for the following purposes:
-
Session security: The
PHPSESSIDcookie stores your CSRF token, which protects every form submission from cross-site request forgery attacks. Without this cookie, forms on the Site will not work. - Analytics and Site improvement: Google Analytics cookies allow us to understand which pages visitors reach, which services attract the most interest, how long visitors spend on different pages, and where visitors come from (organic search, direct, paid ads). This helps us improve content and navigation.
-
Admin authentication: When an administrator logs into the admin
area of this Site, the
PHPSESSIDcookie maintains the authenticated session. This area is not accessible to visitors.
We do not use cookies to serve targeted advertising, to sell data to third parties, or to track your activity across other websites.
Third-party cookies
As of April 2026, the only third-party cookie provider on this Site is
Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC). Google’s analytics cookies
are set from google-analytics.com when the GA4 measurement script loads.
Google may combine data collected through these cookies with data from other Google services or data Google otherwise holds about you, subject to Google’s own privacy policies and terms. We have configured GA4 to anonymize IP addresses. We do not use GA4 advertising features, remarketing, or User-ID features.
We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of Google or any other third-party service. We encourage you to review Google’s Privacy & Terms documentation if you would like more information about how Google uses analytics data.
Your choices
You have several options for controlling cookies:
-
Browser settings: Every modern browser allows you to view,
delete, or block cookies through its settings. Refer to your browser’s
help documentation for instructions. Note that blocking the
PHPSESSIDsession cookie will prevent forms on this Site from working. -
Do Not Track: If your browser sends a Do Not Track (DNT) signal
(
DNT: 1), we honor it by not loading the Google Analytics script for your session. No analytics cookies are set when DNT is enabled. - Google Analytics opt-out: Google offers a browser add-on that prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, dc.js, gtag.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics. Search for “Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on” on Google’s support site to find and install it for your browser.
Local storage and other technologies
We do not use browser local storage, session storage, or IndexedDB
to store tracking information or personal data of any kind. The only client-side
storage we use is the standard browser session cookie (PHPSESSID)
described above.
We do not use browser fingerprinting, canvas fingerprinting, or any other technique designed to identify your device or browser without a cookie.
Changes to this policy
We will update this Cookie Policy when we add, remove, or significantly change the cookies used on this Site. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any such change. If we add third-party cookie providers beyond Google Analytics, we will update the table in Section 2 and provide notice on the Site for 30 days following the change.
