Per-Square-Foot Unit Pricing by Repair Type

Full-depth patch, <100 sq ft: $7 to $8 per sq ft. Full-depth patch, 100 to 500 sq ft: $5.50 to $7 per sq ft. Full-depth patch, 500 to 2,000 sq ft: $4.50 to $5.50 per sq ft. Mobilization and Minimum Job Fees
Mobilization (within 30 miles of Salt Lake City): $400 to $600 for patch crew (2 to 3 persons, one pickup and hotbox trailer). Milling machine mobilization: $1,500 to $2,500 depending on machine size. Paving machine mobilization for overlay work: $800 to $1,500. Minimum project fee (patch work, before mobilization): $800. Projects smaller than the minimum are quoted at the minimum regardless of square footage. After-hours premium (work between 5 p.m. and 6 a.m. or on weekends): 20 to 30 percent added to labor component of total project cost. Weekend scheduling premium (Saturday or Sunday): same 20 to 30 percent premium. We offer no-premium overnight scheduling for projects where the lot can be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.; this allows after-hours rates to be avoided on many retail and restaurant properties.
Seasonal Pricing and Material Cost Factors
Hot-mix asphalt pricing tracks crude oil and bitumen commodity markets. Our unit pricing is based on a PG 64-28 binder cost of approximately $550 to $650 per ton at time of publication. Material cost fluctuations above 15 percent from baseline are passed through as a fuel surcharge on quotes open longer than 60 days. Spring and fall are peak production seasons—April through June and August through October—and projects scheduled during peak season may carry a 5 to 10 percent premium over shoulder-season pricing due to high demand. Winter patch work (November through March) is available at standard pricing but subject to material availability from plants operating limited winter schedules.
Subgrade Contingency and Change Order Policy
Full-depth patch work is quoted based on assumed sub-base depth and condition observed during site walk. When excavation reveals soft, saturated, or contaminated sub-base requiring additional aggregate replacement, we issue a field change order before proceeding. Change order unit price for additional aggregate excavation and replacement: $2.50 to $4.00 per square foot of affected area, depth-dependent. We do not proceed on changed-condition work without a signed change order or written authorization from the property contact. This protects both parties from scope creep disputes.

Common Questions
- Is tax included in the pricing above?
- Utah sales tax applies to the materials portion of asphalt repair contracts. Labor is not subject to sales tax in Utah for construction services. We separate material and labor on invoices. Current Utah state sales tax rate is 4.85 percent; municipal rates add 1.5 to 3 percent depending on location.
- Do you offer payment terms for larger projects?
- For projects over $10,000, we offer net-30 payment terms with credit application approval. Projects over $25,000 can be structured with a 50 percent deposit at contract execution and the balance net-30 after substantial completion. We do not offer extended payment terms without a credit application.
- How do you handle price increases between quote and installation?
- Quotes are valid for 30 days. After 30 days, material prices are re-confirmed at current market before work begins. Labor rates are fixed for 90 days. We notify you in writing of any price change before confirming the project start date.
